Meghan + David - What a great wedding!

Finally got all rested up from yesterday's wedding with Meghan & David. These guys are soooo much fun!!! I had a blast at the wedding and I want to thank you, your friends and family for being so kind to me and my staff on your wedding day!

I wanted to get some photos posted as soon as I could of the wedding and I think you will enjoy what I found!

The First Christian Church is a beautiful historic church in downtown Columbia.

A different perspective on getting into the dress...

Meghan was surprised to see her flowers as she gave Kent, of Kent's Floral Gallery, complete control to do what he wanted for her wedding bouquet. Meghan was very pleased - Kent only delivers the best! (Call Kent at 443-0232, he never gets tired of being told how great he is!)

This may be my favorite bridal prep photo ever. It gets hot under that dress so a girl has to do what a girl has to do :)

Just to show you how cool this wedding party is - we finished up photos early before the ceremony and what does this resourceful group people do? That's right - look for the closest bar to grab a cocktail. Here is everyone at Kliks which is two blocks from the Church. No worries, David was drinking water the whole time (or I think he was).

Here are a few bridal portraits - Meghan is looking so beautiful!

A great shot of David during the ceremony sharing a moment with Meghan.

The lovely couple....

Here is that crazy wedding party again - As if one bar during the day wasnt enough, we headed over to the Black & Gold for a couple refreshments. This establishment is a football Saturday tradition for this bunch. Did I mention that I LOVE my job - I totally didnt tell the girls to hike the skirts up, but I didnt tell them to stop either :)

Now back to the serious stuff - a very touching moment and I was in the right place at the right time.

After dinner at the Kimble Ballroom, we snuck out and took some photos around the Stephens College Campus.

Finally, one of my favorite photos of the day for the simple fact that I have never created an image like this one with a wedding couple. Most wedding day timelines dont afford a photographer the luxury to get a shot like this. So a big thank you to Meghan and Dave for being patient with me and being willing to try out something different. I think it turned out great!

Again, I cannot stress how much fun yesterday was. You guys are a fantastic couple and you bring joy to all those around you. Thank you for letting me be a part of it.

If you havent already, go to to www.pictage.com/47365 and register to view all of Meghan and David's wedding photos once they are available. By registering now you will be automatically notified!

Jennifer + Andrew - St. Louis

Jennifer and Andrew's wedding took place at the beautiful St. Albans Country Club just outside of St. Louis. For this wedding I was contacted by another Chicago based photographer, Robb Hill, to assist with this wedding. I was very honored to be asked to help out. This couple was so much fun to work with and the day provided some wonderful moments to be captured.

This is the first moment when Jen and Andy got to see each other. Very cool.

Then it was off to Jen's parent's house for some photo opportunities. I love how they are just enjoying the day!

Love this little guy's mohawk - it had to be photographed!

Very touching image of Jen's grandfather.

Jen makes a stunning bride. Her and Andrew are a great looking couple!

Gotta love the way he looks at her. So in love.

Love the enthusiasm!

A few detail shots from the GORGEOUS St. Albans Country Club.

Finally, a first dance moment that I feel blessed to be able to capture.

Cheers!

Rebecca + Wesley - Kansas City

I had the pleasure of assisting Chicago photographer James Daly at Rebecca & Wesley's May 24 wedding in Kansas City. James is a predominantly commercial photographer who is branching out into the wonderful world of weddings. Our paths crossed and I was honored that he asked me to assist him in retelling the events of this day.

Here are some of my images from the day.

I always love the anticipation of the day - love her smile.

I have never seen a bridesmaid more pumped up to put the garter onto the bride.

One of my favorite images of the day - Rebecca and her girls were rockin out to some 80s music. You go girl.... :)

Wes looking very GQ next to the piano.

Rebecca's expression is timeless. I think every woman has this feeling of joy come over them just prior to the doors opening in the church. Very cool.

I am such a guy - how could I NOT put a photo of this classic Bentley on my blog. It was very cool. What I also like about this photo is how a couple stray bubbles made their way into the frame.

Love what they did with the reception location here - they converted a ballet conservatory into a magical wonderland.

Grandma was cracking me up all night - too funny!

Two very tender moments at the reception.

Finally, next to the grandma image above this is my favorite from the reception. You ladies are relentless when it comes to that bouquet!

Cheers!

Last Minute Senior

Dustin called me and wanted to get some last minute senior pictures done for 2008. I took these photos in Boonville, MO. I thought the shoot went really good.

Elliott turns one!!

Ok, I've been bad too. I haven't posted in a long while!! I've been caught up in editing, selling my house, trying to find a new one, dealing with my wife's third pregnancy, and somewhere I have lost track of time. Here are some photos from my last photo session with Elliott, he is one years old now!! I love photographing babies and watching them grow. Elliott is apart of my "Babies First Year" collection. These photos were shot on location at Elliott's home. Be watching for the finished "Babies First Year" collection album to be posted in the near future.

Always learning

I just got back from a photography seminar in St Louis called "Capitivated By The Light". The seminar was focused on creating great light on location and in the studio. The seminar featured 9 of the best photographers in the US.

My brain is overloaded with information but it was a treat to be instructed by some of the best in my industry.

I cannot wait to implement what I have learned into my wedding work this summer!

Cheers,

Johnny

My kiddos

I am so blessed to have so many people who care about me and my family. Thank you to those who have asked me about my family and how they are doing. All is well in our world. Addison is getting so big, hard to believe she is going to be eight months old.

Here are a few fun pics of us hanging out over the last couple months.

Easter was a fun time! Look at her sitting up and Mackenzie being such a great big sister!

Grandpa bought Kenzie this super fast go kart. She is already a daredevil in the making. (Okay so maybe I played around in photoshop a bit and it doesnt really go THAT fast)

While Kenzie is on the Kart, Addison is just chilling....

Mackenzie playing with bubbles.

Addison sitting up

Mom and Kenzie having a good time

Sisters

Well, there you have it. A quick update as to what is going on with me at home. I am a proud daddy and not afraid to show it! Hope you enjoy the pics!

Johnny

It has been too long!

I apologize for not posting out on the blog in AGES! When I get super busy, the blog tends to be the one thing that I forget to keep updated. So thank you to everyone who occasionally send me an email to check on me and making sure all is well in my world.

I have been told that I must get some new images up on the blog or bad things might happen to me.... :)

Contrary to the date of the last blog post, we have been very busy. Between various video projects, a studio move (more on that later) and gearing up for the wedding season this year, it has been nonstop fun!

Here are a few shots of what I have been up to.

Britney is a fun senior at RBHS. We had a blast on her session and captured some beautiful images.

I was so super excited to do baby portraits of our best friends', Brandon and Yvonne, baby girl. Baby Emma is 4 weeks old in these photographs and is just adorable!

I just love it when our clients call us after their wedding and ask us to do portraits. Ashley and Thomas were married on Sept 1, 2007. Ashley called me up and asked me to do portraits of their family for Mother's Day. We had a blast!

Hope you enjoy the photos! I look forward to posting more soon.

Cheers,

Johnny

Welcome Jillian....

Jillian came into the studio this morning and we had a blast. She is such a precious 6 month old girl and she was born in August which makes her that much more awesome (yours truly has an August birthday).

I promised Mom and Dad that I would post a few of my favorites out here until all the proofs were complete. Well they left at 11am and here I am at 11:30 posting. This is some kind of record for me as I am the king of procrastination.

Anyway, here are a couple of favorites. Can't wait to go through them all!!

(Click each image for a larger picture)

Hope everyone enjoys the photographs. She was such a blessing to work with! Hope to see you guys again soon!

All the best,

Johnny

What's been up with me...

Hey everyone, I have been so busy that I havent been able to post as much as I want on the blog. I know a lot of my family and friends like to check the blog from time to time to see what is going on with me and my family. I was going through some photos on my computer and put together a quick slideshow of some images we captured over the last few months. Some are just snapshots from around the house and others are some new stuff from the studio.

Hope everyone enjoys!

All the best,

Karly & Jon January 19, 2008 Wedding

WOW it has been already a week since Karly & Jon got married. Let me tell you that Johnny and I had a blast photographing their wedding. Not only were they both a lot of fun to work with, but the entire family welcomed us with open arms.
I had so much fun talking with Karly’s father; I learned that he and Theresa have been married for over 25 years and that each day is like their first date all over again. Mr. Lloyd wishes Karly & Jon the same happiness that he and Theresa have experienced. So with that being said all I can say is: enjoy the photos.

Columbia Expo January Wedding Show

Below are some images from our booth at the 2008 January Wedding Show, located at the Holiday Inn Executive Center. The galvanized steel was a new look for us this year. We wanted to try something different, I think it got the attention we were looking for. As you probably already know we offer a truly unique wedding film experience and also offer contemporary photography with a mix of photo-journalistic and artistic imagery to relive the wedding day like no other.

Not every session goes as planned :)

The Rogers family was in today for their Christmas portraits and while mom and dad had visions of beautiful family portraits dancing in their heads, little Mallory thought otherwise as you can see in this photo.

But by the end of the session we were able to capture some great photos.

Mallory could not stay away from this glass divider in the studio. Love the funny face!

Mom and Dad even got their family portrait...

Merry Christmas you guys!

My favorite kiddos...

I am blessed to have the opportunity to capture the joy, emotion and spirit of many children. There is no greater honor than to be trusted to document the most captivating times of a child's life. However when it comes to capturing my own children, I am guilty of not getting them into the studio as often as I should. So we decided to get the kids in for their Christmas pictures this weekend. We had a blast!!

Addison who is now over 8 weeks old. Amazing how fast they change!! And we actually got some smiles this time!

My oldest, Mackenzie. She is such as ham!

Merry Christmas everyone!

Enjoy the pictures!

My favorite one of the whole session. What a great smile!

This one reminds me of the Austin Powers movies. Did someone say One MILLION Dollars???

She is just too cute!!

Mommy showing some love....

Finally Baylee shows off her Christmas outfit.

I am so happy to meet this little one. I cant wait for the next session at 3 months. If you have a little one, get them into the studio for the First Year Collection. It is such a precious time in your child's life!!

Addison turned 6 weeks old last weekend so we had to get her into the studio for the first "official" session of her Baby's First Year Collection. I thought that while we were there we should get some of her and her big sister as well.

Kannon turns 1 year old

WOW! Little Kannon is now a 1 year old. It is hard to believe that less than a year ago Kannon first came into my studio. The Kovar’s are fantastic people and I have really enjoyed seeing Kannon grow up over the last nine months. As usual I took way too many pictures that I had to narrow down to my favorites! Below are just a couple of photos from yesterday's session at Rockbridge State Park. Kannon was showing us his independence by wanting to walk and crawl instead of being carried. It was a lot of fun.
I hope you enjoy the photos. Take Care. ~Shan

Julie + John Wedding

I know Julie and John are anxiously waiting for these photos to hit the blog. But before I post them I just wanted to thank them for allowing us to be a part of their special day. They have such a great family and I really felt blessed to be a part of that.

The day started for me at the Executive Center where Julie was getting ready for the day. The lighting in the hotel suite was perfect!

Then from there we headed out to Les Bourgeois where the ceremony and reception were to be held. Les Bourgeois is one the finest venue's in Central Missouri. If you are planning an outdoor wedding, look no further than this place.

Here is a bridal portrait of Julie overlooking the bluff top at Les Bourgeois. Isnt she stunning!!

LOVE, I repeat, LOVE this image of Julie and John on the hilltop. Where was this taken, you may ask? It is on the Les Bourgeois property not too far from the bistro.

We also had the privilege of working with some AWESOME vendors at this event. The Les Bourgeois staff was great as always, the cake was done by Edith Hall, and the flowers were done by My Secret Garden. I highly recommend you check these gals out.

Best part about Edith's cakes are that they not only look like works of art (which they are) but they taste soooo goood!!

Shot of the main floor of Les Bourgeois and flowers by My Secret Garden.

John is so proud of his two little girls who did such a great job coming down the aisle and like any proud poppa he gives them the big thumbs up. Too funny!

Another great reason I love Les Bourgeois, look at those clouds!

Finally, John made it very clear to me that of all the fun stuff that we did that day that I had to get a fun shot of John and his buddies enjoying a cigar on the deck. What I think is even cooler than the cigars is that if you look off to the right you will see the Sunday Night Football game on TV. I am tellin you, this wedding had it all!!

Here is a quick slideshow of some more of my favorites. Go out to John & Julie's wedding website at www.pictage.com/357008
. Register by November 15 and you will receive a $20 gift certificate for any photographs on their wedding website.

Thanks again Julie and John. I wish you and your families nothing but the best!

Amy + Jacen Wedding

As Shannon stated in an earlier post, I apologize for the lack of posts here lately. Things have been so busy that the blog has not gotten the attention it deserves.

That being said, I had the opportunity to photograph Amy + Jacen's wedding Saturday, October 20. The wedding was to take place at the AP Green Chapel on the University of Missouri Campus.

The day started at Salon Adair where I met up with the girls to capture all the fun they were having with their manicures and pedicures. After the bridal preparations we hung out around campus getting some fantastic photographs. Amy and Jacen were so much fun to work with. You guys rock!!

Love this sun shot of the chapel...

Probably my two favorite shots of the whole day...

Cooper, the ring bearer, was a bubble machine and not shy of the camera!!

The reception was a blast as we got to work with the always fabulous, Aaron Rose. Aaron is by far one of the best DJs in central Missouri.

Shannon was the Creative Studios signature videographer at this event, you can catch a glimpse of his video light off to the right hand side of the frame.

Go out to Amy and Jacen's wedding website at www.pictage.com/303522

Register by November 15 to view their proofs and you will receive a $20 gift certificate to purchase prints from this event.

In the meantime here is a quick slideshow of a few of my favorites from the day. Enjoy!
